Livermore Valley will host the 30th annual Harvest Wine Celebration from noon-5 p.m., Sunday-Monday, Sept. 4-5, at Livermore wineries. Bus transportation between wineries will be available on Sunday only, and wineries will offer special activities to festival guests on Monday. Each piece of Paula�s artwork is created by thoughtful selection and placement of recycled paper and will be on display from Sept. 4-30, at the Lindsay Dirkx Brown Gallery, 12501 Alcosta Blvd., San Ramon. Spencer Day uses intuition and improvisation to craft a sound that is traditional and familiar, yet fresh and innovative, creating a blend too subtle to parse into neatly defined categories. Christmas in July - Among Friends Quilt Shop

Deck the halls with boughs of holly - fa la la la la, la la la la - that’s what we have been listening to here at Among Friends.  After a few hours of Christmas music and folding Christmas fat quarters (not to mention stepping outside in this heat) we are all ready for snowflakes and eggnog.  Why are we doing this you ask?  Well, next weekend (July 25-27) is the Jingle Bell Hop, which is the local summer shop hop with a holiday theme.  It is never too soon to get ready for the holidays and we would like to help get you started.  We will set the mood with Christmas sounds, scents, sweets and sights; plus we have put out hundreds of bolts of the latest and greatest holiday fabrics.  In addition, each shop in the hop has selected a special holiday project for you to try.  It might be a Christmas ornament, stocking or other item for your holiday decorating, or maybe it is a quick gift idea.  These projects have been kitted for you and as a Jingle Bell Hopper, you will be able to purchase these kits at a discounted price.  As a bonus for you hoppers, the kits you purchase will have a discount coupon included that can be used at a future time.  Also, hoppers will receive a 20% discount on their Christmas fabric (1/2 yd. minimum - fabric on bolts only) purchases during the hop.  It is going to be so much fun.  I hope you will plan to join us.  If you would like to participate, all you need to do is purchase a Christmas Card passport from any one of the participating shops (Among Friends Quilt Shop, Forget Me Knot, Happy Heart, The Gathering Room, Quilts & Crafts, Patch As Patch Can and The Quilting Bee) for $3 ($4 after the hop begins).  As you go from shop to shop during the hop (July 25-27) get your Christmas Card stamped.  When you visit the last shop, turn in your Christmas Card.  If you have stamps from all seven shops, you will be eligible for the grand prize drawings (quilt kits).  There will be a Christmas stocking filled with goodies given away at each shop and you will be eligible to win at each shop you visit, whether or not to make it to all the shops.  So, add the possibility of prizes to the fun; throw in a couple of friends and it sounds like a weekend party!  Hope to see you there!
