TMA opens new gallery with glass
Glass in Toledo will explode come June with the opening of a new 6000 square foot gallery and the arrival of up to 2,000 people for the annual conference of the Society of Glass Art.
The Frederic and Mary Wolfe Gallery in the Toledo Museum of Art, devoted to contemporary works, will open June 13 with a show called kaleidoscopic color ignites, featuring glass art created in the last 50 years. The gallery, a museum space was displayed in glass from 1969 to 2003, underwent a $ 3 million makeover that includes a mezzanine. In addition, the galleries of the glass pavilion of 5 years will be re-installed.
Wolfe Gallery debut coincides with the meeting of the Glass Art Society (GAS), the largest organization in the world for glass artists, collectors and suppliers. The last group meeting here in 1993.
Also visit Toledo in June will be members of the International Committee for Museums and collections of glass, consisting of curators and conservators of glass from around the world, said Jutta-Annette Page, curator of the Museum of Arts and decorative glass, and members of the Alliance for Contemporary Art Glass.

Next in Canaday be Small Worlds, November 18 to March 25.Five contemporary artists will present dozens of "small worlds" made through photos, drawings, sculptures and relief paintings in this show produced museum. Also featured will be video installations and live, interactive elements, and a miniature house built locally measuring all 65 square feet.

On September 22, 2011 Sotheby mid-season contemporary art auction will include thoughtful works selected by the artists of the postwar period through the day. All works go this weekend, Saturday, Sept. 17 at Sotheby's York Avenue headquarters. Estimates range from $ 4,000 to $ 400,000, offering a feast of choice for collectors working both new and experienced.The sale covers a range of movement of abstract expressionism, pop, minimalism, conceptualism and contemporary photography and the work of some of the most exciting and desirable today's younger artists.
Highlights from the sale of two private collections, including a remarkable selection of works by pop artist Richard Lindner formed by Maria Eisner Lehfeldt whose friendship and dedication took the career of the artist.
