This sport occurs on annual basis, mostly between late October to early April, and this is the time when Dubai has maximum number of tourists. The most interesting part is that there is no dress code and admission to the race is also free.
The race marks a festive beginning for the people of UAE who are usually accompanied by traditional music and singing to the Arabian drum beats. The sport is no less then a big festival and it attracts many tourists. It is truly a festival for not only the localities but also for the people coming from different countries. In the past For the post of jockey, children were sometimes abducted or sold voluntarily from, various countries to camel racing syndicate. At present such practices are forbidden by UAE law, and the jockey has to be the UAE citizen, at least 15 years old and of weight no less than 35 kilo.
