Bites Nearby: Wine Harvest
The harvest will provide customers with more experience than just great wine. Its purpose is to give customers an experience of wine at a good price in the atmosphere of a European café.
"Our concept is to offer a better bottle of wine for a much lower cost than what you would find in a restaurant," said Stan Cohen, general manager at the location Kentlands.
Customers can order a bottle of wine at a competitive price retail, and for a small corkage fee, enjoy the site.
Recent changes in Maryland law now allow customers to open bottles of wine at home."It was a great attraction for us," said Cohen, "our customers can come here, choose a bottle of wine, a drink or two and take the rest home."
Harvest has a mouth-watering selection of cheese plates, goat cheese and walnuts, baked brie, duck mousse pate, fresh mozzarella, manchego and quince-to complete your selection from the 400 wines in the cellar.
And if you bring your appetite, the menu Harvest has an amazing selection of sandwiches and salads in a European style coffee.Try the Blue Moon sandwich (roast beef, blue cheese, red onion and tomatoes), or turkey and cranberry sauce sandwich (turkey breast, cream cheese and cranberry sauce). For a lighter meal, we suggest the apple salad with blue cheese (romaine, Granny Smith apples, bacon, blue cheese and choice of dressing).
Harvest has special tastings throughout the year. The next tasting will be Monday, September 26th from 5-7 hours at the location with the Potomac-Cousino Macul winery in Chile. The tasting is free and open to the public. Check the website to receive news and events thewineharvest.com.

I'm a fan of hazelnut. I love all nuts. Creamer in my coffee, ice cream, any kind of candy or cookies with them in it, hazelnut bread, muffins, bagels, scones, tea, Frangelico, by the handle ... I love to cook with hazelnut oil. It's kind of one of my favorite flavors! I thought it might be delicious and fun to mix the nuts in the brownies. It was good, but it w as dry. Hmmm ... enter cream cheese. Perfection!
For the filling: Place cream cheese and sugar in large bowl and beat with electric mixer on medium speed until smooth.Add egg, lemon juice and vanilla and continue beating until well blended. Stir in the nuts with a rubber spatula. Cover and refrigerate. For the dough: Melt chocolate and butter together in a game on a double boiler pan of simmering water over medium heat. Remove pan from heat and set aside. Sift flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt in medium bowl and set aside. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Put sugar, eggs and vanilla in large bowl and beat with electric mixer on medium speed until smooth and pale yellow, about 2 minutes.Stir in melted chocolate mixture, then add the flour mixture and continue beating until mixture is smooth. Stir in the nuts with a rubber spatula. Spread half of batter into a greased Spread / floured 8 "square pan. Topping over batter. Gently spread remaining batter over filling. Take a rubber spatula through the layers of marble. Bake about 40 minutes. Let cool before cutting.
