Joy for John at Elsworth

John Pratt reeled in 89lb 6oz to win Fred’s Match Group’s Brian Kleen Memorial.

The victor forced Dave Clemants, who mustered 77lb, to settle for second place at Elsworth’s Lawn Farm Fisheries.

The event raised £225 for the Arthur Rank Hospice and the organisers would like to thank John and Ros Logan for donating Honeysuckle Lake for the day.

Details – 1 John Pratt 89lb 6oz, 2 Dave Clemants 77lb, 3 Simon Easey 69lb.

* A mixed bag earned Sam Hawkes top spot in the Peter Edwards Memorial for the second year running at Waterbeach AC’s Atkins Water.

He used a 13 metre pole and maggots to acquire carp and silver fish totalling 46lb 2oz, while Ian Baker, who used paste over liquidised corn, hooked 42-8.

Magpie Lake hosted a match for Littleport ex-servicemen, and an 84-12 bag secured victory for J Colder.

On Leland Water, Keith Ferris hooked 10 bream, Ken Bingham had a host of carp and a bonus tench and Mel Buddle bagged a personal-best common carp weighing 23lb.

Visit www.waterbeachac.co.uk for full information on all of the club’s waters.

* There were capital gains in the John Watts Trophy held at Grafham Water.

The four-man team event was won by London A after they got their hands on 17 trout for a team total of 40lb 1oz.

Ayr Travellers finished second thanks to a 35lb net containing 16 specimens, while Congleton’s Neil Thomas was the top individual with 15-5.

Away from the match arena, the best bag of the week was compiled by Bedford’s Steve Battle, which weighed in at 21-1.
