"We had some sudden changes, some turn of events and our kids didn't react well," Muller said. "We scrimmaged Pocono Mountain East during training camp and we played really well. We were at a much higher level against them than we played tonight."Look, I'm not saying we should have dominated Palmerton. But I felt this was a game we should have won. But we had kids come out of the game with cramps and other issues. And I thought the kids came out of camp in pretty good shape. I had to put a freshman kid in there at linebacker, Trey Watson, and he did a pretty good job actually, but I need our veterans to be in there when the game is on the line."
A little aside to the rest of the Colonial League coaches: You better game plan against Palmerton tackle Kane Kralik, who spent most of his evening in the Notre Dame backfield.
Muller believed a botched punt situation on the first play of the fourth quarter was a momentum-changer but he was more frustrated with what happened after that play. The Crusaders gave up a big play on a screen pass, there was a bad pitch on an option, an interception on a deflected ball and some half-hearted tackling also did not sit well with him on the runback by Alex Vignone.
