“Oman has developed very fast during the last 40 - 50 years creating a much better general health service. But as far as caring for the special needs of disabled children is concerned, it needs a lot more time. The numbers of disabled children in Oman is extremely high and it is a group of patients who are missing effective therapies for rehabilitation,” said Dr Lone.
The doctor has also scheduled further visits for 2012 to conduct individual and group parents’ courses and training for professionals. “The reception I have had here has been just amazing. All professionals and parents we met expressed a need for the subject. All parents were desperately asking for help to improve many serious daily problems that their children were facing,” she said.
