Money for clean water projects
(OLYMPIA)— The Washington State Department of Ecology has offered one hundred and eleven million dollars in grants and loans for 56 projects to improve and protect clean water in Washington.
The spending was approved by Washington lawmakers for use in the current state biennial budget.
Once again during this funding cycle, Ecology received more requests for funding than it could fulfill, 90 project proposals totaling $210-million dollars.
The agency’s final award list went to the highest priority water quality projects based on the rating and ranking of statewide competitive applications.
The projects include upgrades and expansion of sewer plants; new sewage collection systems and improvements; water re-use facilities; water cleanup projects; stormwater and groundwater projects; public clean water education projects; and green infrastructure projects that provide water or energy efficiency.
