Yesterday morning started out with a hike after we determined Clara was getting the treatment she needs at the hospital. Somehow Nell mustered the energy to go in at eight or nine o'clock. I stayed behind to figure out the biodiesel mess here. Just before dusk,I came back in the house exclaiming,"The good news is I apparently did not hurt the momma bear." The bear was in the yard while I was working in the Biodiesel shed. Nell asked that I at least have the shotgun out there with me,to scare them away. 

I'm getting ahead of myself. The hike was quite an adventure. Austin and Amelia went to visit their grandma,but Brittany wanted to come along and she was watching their puppy as well her own puppy Pirate both are Buddy's sisters. Kevin came along as well,which made me so happy. I got the chance to describe my vision of building four cabins nearby,and how I hoped the plan might create a quick positive change here on the ranch for all of the family.

Again getting the chance to tell the cabin story pleased me very much. Three Border Collie –Australian Shepard puppies on the same walk was challenging at first. The herd instinct is overwhelming it seems,with each puppy becoming frustrated with the others action. A lot of tackling and biting of necks ensued. Eventually we got heading in the right direction. I wasn't feeling tip-top having not slept because of the emergency room affair. Still the peace of the forest is calming and tends to melt away worries fears replaced by a deep feeling of camaraderie.

Dental-vacuum-pump-Greer –Kevin helped me rebuild an old vacuum pump which came from Greer's Dental office. Paul commented ( http://outfitnm.com/2011/08/23/bmn-nells-red-benz#comment-445 ) "To dewater you could look at mild heating and a deep vacuum using say a Welch vac pump. There are plenty on Ebay. Water would/should just boil out of it."Kevin searched the Interweb,and found that as he put it,"Apparently using vacuum for dewatering is so common,this is the reason people aren't talking about it."So how does it work? Does it need some kind of reservoir before the vacuum pump? This is the same system I may be building to suck WVO from grease vats,so I have a vested interest in learning how to use vacuum without sucking whatever it is into the pump.
